Mistletoe Maiden

Lords of Hazard Series - Book 3

A Cinderella Christmas Anthology

By Sabrina Jeffries

Kensington Books - October 2026

Historical Romance

A Cinderella Christmas Anthology consists of three stories, each standing on its own. As can be surmised by the title, they are each variations of the Cinderella fairy tale and set at Christmas. They are Mistletoe Maiden by Sabrina Jeffries, The Cinderella Challenge by Mary Jo Putney and A Winter’s Wish by Anna Bradley.

Noel Davenport, Viscount Cokesbury, had lost both his younger sister, Natalie, and father. He had no desire to care for anyone else, which was why he was settling on a woman who he had no feelings for. Watching Natalie succumb to consumption had been terrible and he never wished to feel such hopelessness again.

When he crossed paths with Natalie's friend, Eve Archer, he sees it as simply an opportunity to help his sister’s friend. Eve obviously was having difficulties and he wished to assist.

After spending years as a detenu in France, Eve had finally returned home to England with her stepmother and half-brother. Her father had passed, but her uncle was creating difficulties with their inheritances, so she was helping earn money with her embroidery. She was saddened to learn of Natalie's death, but happy to reunite with Noel and his mother, and hopeful when she learned of a chance to enter her embroidery into a contest for the Queen. And as she spends more time with Noel, she begins to hope she can change his mind from settling for a loveless marriage to asking her for one full of love.

Mistletoe Maiden was a lovely Cinderella tale with a loving stepmother, an impish younger brother, and a viscount hiding from love. I enjoyed watching Eve and her family meet the difficulties they are facing with pride and determination. Eve was a fierce heroine determined to help her family and make Noel face the truth of his feelings for her. Although part of the Lords of Hazard series, it stands on its own.
